This project provided a magical opportunity to reimagine the traditional workspace and test the boundaries of office design on Mespil Road, Slater Designs' new Dublin Studio.
Over 250sq metres and three floors, the space houses a working studio, client engagement areas, social space, a flexible working environment and amazing exterior spaces. Slater’s new office encourages creative, flexible desk solutions, enhanced outdoor facilities, project rooms & democracy of sorts between clients and team members.
The lower ground floor is the pièce de résistance of the scheme. The crafted zones follow a similar aesthetic to the upper floors but function quite differently. No fixed desks, meeting tables, or agenda. The concept is to allow team members and clients to work creatively in an environment that houses an internal courtyard, sunken lounge, social kitchen, project room & south-facing garden.
This is achieved through a single floor finish running from the outdoor patio through all areas of the ground floor. This creates a seamless flow and ensures connectedness between all areas of the ground floor. The resulting finish is modern and bold with no gimmicks but strength in crafted detail. S-mix is a stone-look collection in which subtle graphic patterns, evocations of sea shells add movement to the surface of this product. Darker stone inserts decorate the surface creating coordinated compositions with a strong personality.
S-mix is ideal for spaces to escape to. Enjoyed indoors & outdoors, where commercial locations intermingle with residential scenarios, rediscovering the joys of a freer, more easy-going lifestyle. The office environment is within this space where team members can enjoy outdoor working, inspired breakouts, and flexible project rooms.
